Rizzles Fanfic Challenge

Pop

You’re an idiot.

You spend weeks planning. You make sure everything is perfect. Honestly, the hardest part is calling off your mother. First, she wanted to spend the holiday with you, completely missing the fact that, just this once, you’d like to be alone with Maura. Then, somehow, in a surprise twist, she, completely bewilderingly, figured it out. She figured out that you wanted this to be a date, a first date, a first romantic evening of two consenting adults only.

You have no idea how she figured it out, because it took you years and you were the one with the feelings and mind-numbing attraction to your best friend.

But she figured it, and, somehow, she was incredibly cool about it. It was great. But then, and you should have seen this coming, she got too cool about it: she announced, plain as day, that she wanted to come. She wanted to come on your date. She wanted to come on your first date. She wanted to come on your first date with Maura Isles, whose other first dates have probably included private yachts and midnight tours of the Louvre and other fancy shit you can’t even imagine. And your mother, hand to God, honestly wanted your first date story with Maura to be, “Jane took me to see the fireworks at 4th of July with a thousand other people. And her mother. And we did nothing but hold hands and plan our wedding and pregnancy schedule.”

That woman. It’s torture sometimes.

For this week’s challenge, once again we’re going to shake things up a bit!

This time you can choose from two different prompts: umbrella or fireworks! (Or both if you’d like! Only one entry allowed though.)

So write a fic (long or short) that has something to do with umbrellas or fireworks. Make us laugh. Make us cry. Make is fall in love with our favorite characters all over again. But most importantly, be creative! (And if the story is NSFW/smutty, or contains triggers such as death, please include an author’s note so that readers are forewarned.)

The submission deadline for this week’s challenge is Friday, July 11.

Note: The voting period will be from the evening of Friday, July 11 through Tuesday, July 15.

Also, If you know of anyone who doesn’t have tumblr who would like to submit a story to the challenge, please have them send their submission to our email address (rizzlesfanficchallenge@gmail.com) with their FFNet or AO3 username.

Happy writing!

For this week’s challenge, we’re going to shake things up a bit!
The “theme” for this week revolves around haikus. We want you to write a “story” using between five (5) and no more than fifteen (15) haikus (so they should logically flow together).
What’s a haiku, you ask?
A haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five (5), seven (7), and five (5). Traditionally they evoke images of the natural world, but we want you to use them to evoke images of your favorite characters on Rizzoli & Isles!
Example:Rizzoli and Isles (5 syllables)a detective, a doctor (7 syllables)best friends fighting crime (5 syllables)
The submission deadline for this week’s challenge is Monday, June 9.
Note: Because this is something new we’re trying, there will be no voting.
Also, If you know of anyone who doesn’t have tumblr who would like to submit an entry to the challenge, please have them send their submission to our email address (rizzlesfanficchallenge@gmail.com) with their FFNet or AO3 username.
Please let us know if you have any questions!

Anonymous asked: Have you ever had a problem with people reblogging submissions and then using them as their own because no name is assigned to them? As an author I am sometimes fearful that when my story gets reblogged someone will try and steal them and use it as their own. Is this a problem? Do you have any ideas or tips to prevent this?

To our knowledge, this has never been an issue, and if it becomes one, we will address it immediately.

Submitted stories are only anonymous until voting is closed and then we reveal who’s written them. If others are “stealing” stories before authors are announced, please come to us and we’ll do our best to help handle the situation appropriately.

Your stories are YOURS and all recognition and praise should be directed to YOU. When all is said and done, we’ll make sure everyone knows whose writing belongs to whom. No worries there.

If people actually decide to do/are doing this, we frown heavily upon your immoral choice.

Sincerely,
Maura (formerly known as M2)
